Do you have questions you want answered?!
In March 2008 a regional Youth Advisory Board (YAB) was set up. The aim is to work with young people from across the North East aged 14 to 19 on education and issues facing young people. The Youth Advisory Board have a group of 25 young people from a range of backgrounds and areas, each bringing a unique point of view.
The main issue that keeps been brought up by the young people is the inconsistent information, advice and guidance young people are receiving across the North East.
In the first year the young people developed a stable core group of dedicated young people from across the North East. These young people then delivered a regional conference on the issue of Information, Advice and Guidance. As part of the project the young people have designed and developed a virtual portal.
YAB are now starting our second year and plan another regional conference on raising aspirations; the young people are in the process of developing a parent/carer toolkit and also begin to work in schools to develop a young ambassador’s scheme on Information, Advice and Guidance.
