Duties:Starting by developing your product knowledge on destinations and Tour Operators, customer service and sales skills you will begin to sell products and work towards targets once you have gained the necessary skills. You will also be responsible for brochure stock control, progressing
towards your qualification and continuously developing your skills in order to become a successful Travel Consultant.
Requirements: You should have a genuine passion for travel, love talking to people and be enthusiastic and helpful with a real commitment to learning about the business. It is preferable that you have GCSE grades A – C in Maths and English as you may have more work to do for your qualification if you don’t. A previous qualification relevant to the industry would be quite useful however this isn’t essential.
Training: Working towards an NVQ level 3 in travel services, operated by Hays Travel Ltd in conjunction with Newcastle College, you will learn about the travel and tourism industry, becoming proficient in worldwide geography, selling and promoting products to a variety of customers and understanding the systems used to perform your job with confidence. You will develop essential key skills like communication, numeracy and information technology. The programme gives you the chance to earn while you learn and take the first steps towards the career of your choice. You get a real job, get training and you get qualified! After the training programme is completed you will have gained an NVQ level 3 in Travel Services as well as invaluable work experience.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week over 5 days. Monday – Saturday, 9.00am –5.30pm and Sunday, 10am – 4pm.
Wages: £5,040 per annum (£96.92 per week)
