► Your Citizen Rights
If you are a UK citizen you are entitled to things such as free healthcare (NHS), free state education, freedom of speech and the right to vote or stand for election (when your 18). There are also legislations designed to protect you such as:
Human Rights Act – This is there to safeguard you basic rights and freedoms such as the right to marry, start a family or to not be discriminated against.
There is also the Children act and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child which gives you the right for your opinions and views to be heard and considered.

► Your Consumer Rights

When you buy something you are entitled for that product or goods to be fit for the purpose you bought it for and not be unsafe or damaged. If it is faulty in some way you are entitled to a full refund, replacement or repair. For advice on your rights as a consumer, making complaints or scams to avoid visit the office of fair trading website or see the Durham Council website for the local trading standards office.
