From September 2007, the Government launched a guarantee, to offer every young person leaving compulsory education (after Year 11) a place in further education or work based learning by the end of September. This guarantee is called the September Guarantee.
The guarantee is being extended to 17 year olds from September 2008, which will support young people to obtain a place after completing a one year post 16 course.

If you are 17 years old and enrolled on a one-year or short course after school, the guarantee also applies to you.
You could be offered a place:
· in a school sixth form, sixth form college or further education (FE) college
· on an Apprenticeship
· doing Entry to Employment (E2E)
· in employment with training to NVQ Level 2.
